Any hardcore Beyoncé fan knows that Bey reps her native Houston hard. In "Who Run the World?" she sings, "This is how they made me/
Houston Texas, baby."

Knowing this, an online fan started the hashtag #BeyBeAHERO to get her to protect Houston's Equal Rights Ordinance (HERO), which "bans discrimination on a variety of protected classes including sexual orientation and gender identity in public accommodations, housing, city employment and city contracting," reports Dallas Voice. The ordinance is in danger of being repealed, and fans are hoping that with her support, Texas representatives will listen to her request and allow the ordinance to remain in tact.

A fan on twitter started the hashtag, #BeyBeaHERO after reading an article Carlos Maza wrote for Huffpost Gay Voices, titled, "With One Post, Beyoncé Could Stop Anti-Gay Discrimination in Her Hometown":

Carlos Maza, the LGBT Program Director for Media Matters for America, got the hashtag trending on Twitter:

Bey has many references to H-Town in her songs. Here are a few:

In "Pretty Hurts," she takes on the persona of "Miss 3rd Ward," a reference to the historic ward in her hometown of Houston, Texas. beyonce

In "***Flawless," she says, "I’m out that H-town/Coming, coming down/I’m coming down dripping candy on the ground/H, H-town, town, I’m coming down/Coming down, dripping candy on the ground." beyonce

Bey fans are asking her to write at least one post. Just an Instagram post. They believe her cultural influence could shift the politics of her hometown. In the past, Bey has come out in support of marriage equality on Instagram:

Never Too Late #LoveWins ❤️

If Beyoncé did write a tweet or an Instagram post, what would she say?

We could list a ton of songs, but Beyoncé herself summed it up in one photo back in 2013, when she posted a photo of "Single Ladies," and said:

And, you should be able to rent/buy a home without facing discrimination because of your gender and/or sexual identity, right, Beyoncé?
