Style Icon and reality star Nicole Richie had been keeping busy in her role as mom and wife until recently becoming a mentor on NBC’s Fashion Star, the reality series that affords designers the opportunity to launch their collections in three of America’s largest retailers: Macy’s, H&M and Saks Fifth Avenue.
Richie became a household name alongside Paris Hilton on The Simple Life 10 years ago and has since launched two fashion lines -- Winter Kate and House of Harlow 1960. She recently spoke with the Advocate about fashion and style and giving a shout out to Ellen DeGeneres and Samantha Ronson for their impeccable style.
When asked which celebrities she thought were style icons Richie said, “I think Ellen DeGeneres has really cute style,”
Richie went on to say, “To be honest, I think Samantha Ronson has the cutest style and even though we have very different senses of style, I get a lot of my personal fashion inspiration from her. She wears really, really cute clothes. She’s got a killer closet.”
Let’s hope that Richie’s ardor for lesbians with great fashion sense bodes well for Fashion Star contestant Kara Laricks, an out lesbian whose Draped Tie Dress ignited a bidding war between Saks and H&M on last week’s show.
