IFC Films has acquired the rights to Breaking the Girl, a psychosexual thriller about a beautiful college student and her manipulative friend “with benefits” who together, make a pact to murder each other’s enemies, which is surely a twist on Patricia Highsmith's Strangers on a Train.
The flick stars Agnes Bruckner (Private Practice) and Madeline Zima (Californication), was helmed by But I’m a Cheerleader/Itty Bitty Titty Committee director Jamie Babbit, and the script was written by Mark Distefano and Guinevere Turner (Go Fish/American Psycho), according to Indiewire.
Produced by Myriad Pictures, Breaking the Girl was picked up during the Toronto International Film Festival earlier this month. There’s no word yet on a release date for 2012.
