Melissa Etheridge appeared on CBS This Morning Thursday and chatted about her new album, surviving breast cancer and her “two baby mamas.”

Etheridge weighed in on navigating the ever-evolving music industry and how she couldn’t be happier with her new release 4th Street Feeling but host Gayle King was quick to turn the conversation toward Etheridge’s personal life mentioning the rocker’s two former wives, whom Etheridge referred to as her “baby mamas” as she has to kids each with Julie Cypher and Tammy Lynn Michaels.

“My two exes are really wonderful people, Julie and Tammy,” Etheridge said. “The thing that makes it doable is that the kids come first.”

King was quick to point out that Etheridge’s split with Michaels was “messy.”  Etheridge replied, “It was messy,” but “the kids didn’t know,” which she said was was important to her.

Just as an aside, the cat will be out of the bag once those kids are old enough to read what other sites have picked up from  Tammy’s blog but they’ll likely cross that bridge when they get to it.
