It’s at least round three in the battle of One Million Moms –-or, more accurately, 40,000 moms—versus Ellen DeGeneres. The conservative, antigay organization went berserk when JCP hired Ellen as its spokeswoman, went nuts again when JCP actually shot and aired commercials featuring its spokeswoman and is now taking umbrage with a harmless, 30-second Christmas spot for the retail giant that features Ellen and some elves. And since elves were totally there in Nazareth crowded around the Nativity bearing gifts of Keebler cookies it makes sense that OMM is beating the drum against Ellen again, according to Joe My God.
One Million Moms released a statement regarding how outraged it is at the holy-than-thou Christmas Elves / Ellen JCP commercial, and OMM is now urging consumers to boycott the store this holiday season.
“Since April, JC Penney's has not aired Ellen DeGeneres in one of their commercials until now. A new JCP ad features Ellen and three elves,” writes OMM. “JCP has made their choice to offend a huge majority of their customers again. Christians must now vote with their wallets. We have contacted JC Penney's several times in the past with our concerns, and they will not listen. They have decided to ignore our complaints so we will avoid them at all costs.”
Again, this makes total sense to go after Ellen and a holiday commercial since rampant consumerism is so Christ-like.
Just this year alone OMM has voiced disgust at Ellen and JCP –several times—the gay Oreo, gay superheroes, Jennifer Lopez and her lesbian-themed ABC Family show The Fosters, Urban Outfitters, The New Normal, gay Archie comics characters and Skittles. It must be exhausting to be that outraged all the time. Don’t these moms have kids to raise?
