THEATER: Anything Goes
For those on the West Coast who never made it back east for the Roundabout Theater's Tony-winning Broadway Revival of Cole Porter's classic Anything Goes, directed by Kathleen Marshall, the touring production of that revival starring the stunning Rachel York as the brassy bombshell Reno Sweeney is simply De-Lovely. Jam-packed with Porter hits you're sure to recognize including the title song, "You're the Top," "Friendship," "I Get a Kick Out of You" and "Blow, Gabriel Blow" and choreography that will make your toes tingle, this Anything Goes is a must-see for musical theater geeks and the unitiated alike. MUSIC: Tori Amos, Flavor (Peter Rauhofer Mixes) Remix Package
Tori Amos’s new four-track remix package, Flavor (Peter Rauhofer Mixes), on sale today via Deutsche Grammophon, takes the lead single from Amos’s current album, Gold Dust — the album where she reimagines her own songs in an orchestral setting in collaboration with the Metropole Orchestra — and has master remixer-DJ Peter Rauhofer ditch the concert hall in favor of the dance floor. Sure, it’s four new versions of one song, but the man best known for his remixes of Madonna, Cher, Britney Spears, and Pink is up to the task. And Amos has launched with it the
Gold Dust Instagram, where fans can upload their photos and personal stories relating to any of the songs on Gold Dust. Entries from different U.S. cities will be chosen to make up a Gold Dust map. Fans chosen for the map will be in the running to win a signed copy of the album.

THEATER: Second City’s A Christmas Carol: Twist Your Dickens!
Alumni of the venerable comedy troupe created and star in this hilarious, irreverent parody, featuring homicidal Cratchits, hard-partying ghosts, and a cameo appearance by George Bailey. Interspersed throughout the show are send-ups of other holiday classics, such as A Charlie Brown Christmas, in which the “lost ending,” among other things, confirms something we always suspected about Peppermint Patty. A variety of guest stars will appear during the run; LGBT celebs expected to pop up include George Takei, Bruce Vilanch, Miss Coco Peru, Sheila Kuehl, and Susan Feniger. THEATER: The Killing of Sister George
The iconic lesbian play, the basis for an equally iconic film, gets a new treatment at New Haven, Conn.’s Long Wharf Theatre with Kathleen Turner in the starring role of June Buckridge, a gin-swilling, cigar-smoking lesbian actress who plays the saintly Sister George on a British radio show. When the good sister is set to be written off the show, June refuses to go quietly. Long Wharf’s team says the late Frank Marcus’s play, considered shocking when it premiered in the 1960s, has been rewritten substantially “to emphasize character relationships,” but we still expect Turner, who also directs, to shock and awe the audience. If your taste in holiday entertainment leans more toward the naughty than nice, you’ll be happy to know John Waters is coming to town! Several towns, at least. The filmmaker, raconteur, and connoisseur of all things filthy is touring with his 10th annual edition of A John Waters Christmas, a one-man show for those who have a love-hate relationship with the holiday. Greg Mullavey of Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman fame and Gaby Hoffmann, the little girl from Field of Dreams all grown up, are part of the ensemble in the off-Broadway premiere of Jennifer Maisel’s play about a dysfunctional family gathering for one last Passover seder with their dying father. Mullavey is the patriarch, with Hoffmann as one of his four daughters; Sarah Winkler plays another daughter, a pregnant lesbian with a penchant for psychoanalyzing everyone but herself. The newest track off the queer-friendly band's third EP, Trophy Girl, speaks to anyone who's glanced over at an ex's new squeeze with just a twinge of jealousy and judgment. Former girlfriends and current bandmates Cynthia Catania and Annamarie Cullen, know all about that moment, since they lived through it when their romantic relationship tanked, and almost took the band with it. But thanks to the support of fellow bandmates Steve Giles and Megan Jane, the dual leading ladies were able to reconcile the awakwardness and stay together for the tunes.
