WATCH: Jodie Foster Stars as Villainous One-Percenter in Post-Apocalyptic 'Elysium'

I love a good post-apocalyptic flick, especially one that pits the one-percent against the rest of us (see 1927’s Metropolis), which is why I can’t freaking wait for the Jodie Foster/Matt Damon starrer Elysium, out in theaters this August. But for now, Sony/Tristar pictures has just released the trailer.

But for now, Sony/Tristar pictures has just released the trailer.

District 9’s Neill Blomkamp directs the sci-fi movie in which the wealthiest of the wealthy live on a man-made space station while all others fend for themselves on and over-crowded, blow-out planet Earth.

Leave it to Damon’s working class hero to save Planet earth from cyborgs and rich people while Foster plays the mayor of Elysium, who’ll do anything to keep the poor and miserable earthbound from infiltrating her safe haven (I’m guessing she’s a Republican mayor).

Foster, who famously came out at this year’s Golden Globes, hasn’t done a sci-fi film since 1997’s warm and fuzzy Contact.Elysium promises to be so much more badass!

Here’s the trailer.
