In a recent interview with HuffPost Live, singer-songwriter Linda Perry (of 4 Non-Blondes fame) said she's never been shy about her sexuality.

Trying to hide that she's gay would be like hiding her hair or trying to hide the fact that she has arms, Perry told a viewer. "It's just a part of who I am," said Perry. "I've been gay my whole life…Gay is not what's making me make decisions, it's just who I am. It's my choice, it's my preference."

Besides, Perry's never been one to keep secrets. "I'll tell you everything," said Perry, who's engaged to The Talk cohost Sarah Gilbert. "I'm such a big mouth."

Perry also said she believes staying in the closet stifles creativity. That's why she advises young gay artists to be true to themselves and honest about their orientation.

"If you are holding back, or making decisions based on fear, then how are you truly giving to your art?" asked Perry. "How are you truly living your life properly if you're holding back a piece of it?"
