For those of you still thinking a '50s era lesbian film starring Cate Blanchett, Rooney Mara, Sarah Paulson, and Carrie Brownstein is too good to be true, we now have proof that it's real. We also have proof that it might be pretty much perfect, if this just-released official trailer is any indication. Based on Patricia Highsmith's acclaimed 1952 lesbian novel The Price of Salt, Carol has already had incredible success at the Cannes Film Festival and has set a November 27th release date (though most online info lists the release date as November 20th, so that slightly remains to be seen). Either way, it won't be too long until we're experiencing this story onscreen for ourselves, and maybe even before it's nominated for several Academy Awards.

In the film - by out director Todd Haynes - Blanchett plays the titular Carol, a socialite and housewife who falls for a department store clerk and artist, played by Mara.

We've been keeping tabs on Carol for a while, so the release of this gorgeous, nuanced, and captivating trailer is quite a special occasion.

We'd expect nothing less from this A-list group taking on such prominent material, and we expect we'll love every second of it when November rolls around.

Now enjoy the official Carol trailer for yourselves:
