Many a lady-lovin' dream has come true across the years for those of us who had the pleasure of watching The Rocky Horror Picture Show in our formative years.

In fact, if your eyes lit upon the cult classic at any time in the last 40 years, you'd likely have decided that a young Susan Sarandon ripping off her slip while tenderly singing "Touch me, I want to be dirrrrty" may in fact have been your lesbian root. (Or maybe you're still thinking about her next classic, Thelma and Louise, which had its own reunion).

Either way, you'll likely join us with absolute pleasure to hear that the major motion picture was honored on Friday, with a commemorative plaque at the Los Angeles theater where the film had its American premiere all those years ago. 

Local lawmakers made comments about the film and its enduring legacy, with epic performer and star of the film, Tim Curry, in attendance. And the words "Give yourself over to absolute pleasure" - a key line of the film - were uttered in Los Angeles' City Hall - certainly not words you would expect from a local councilman, the LA Times reported.

On the anniversary of the 40th year since its release, Netflix sensation, Orange Is The New Black star, Laverne Cox stepped out in style just prior to Halloween, as herself in a bustier dress that classily reinvents the film's aesthetic. It mirrors the TV adaptation of the classic upcoming from Fox, which is anticipated to stick faithfully to the text and the score of the original while getting a total visual rehaul. Cox earlier this year had her intention announced to play the outrageous transvestite key performer of the film - the role of Frank-N-Furter - via Rolling Stone.

We sure hope that Cox gets to be very much herself in the remake version. As a transvestite character, usually played by a man, Frank-N-Furter is obviously not at all a trans woman, and so to fit the persona of Cox's fabulous self to the film character is always a challenging walk between stereotypes of the LGBTQ community that we're crossing all digits will go well! We have every faith that Laverne Cox is a personality and advocate who will walk that line with aplomb, though, and look forward to it hitting our small screens with as much of a bang as Ruby Rose did in Orange Is The New Black, just a few short weeks ago.
