Carol Dominates the Gay and Lesbian Entertainment Critics Dorian Awards

The Academy Awards may not have shown Carol the love it deserves, but the Gay and Lesbian Entertainment Critics Awards did!

If you weren't a fan of the Academy Award nominations this year, at least the Gay and Lesbian Entertainment Critics Association is on your side. On Monday, the organization announced their winners of the year and Carol scored big time, receiving Film of the Year, Director of the Year (Todd Haynes), Film Actress of the Year (Cate Blanchett), Screenplay of the Year (Phyllis Nagy), and LGBTQ Film of the Year. Todd Haynes also won the  "Wilde Artist of the Year" Award (named for Oscar Wilde), which is much deserved, especially after the Director's Guild Awards failed to acknowledge his brilliant work with Carol this year.

For a full list of the Gay and Lesbian Entertainment Critics Awards, click here. Some big winners include Transparent with three awards including LGBTQ Show of the Year, TV Comedy of the Year, and TV Actor of the Year (Jeffrey Tambor); Amy Schumer, who won the "Wilde Wit of the Year" Award; and the recently omni-present Alicia Vikander scored the "‘We’re Wilde About You’ Rising Star" Award. Perhaps foreshadowing the upcoming Oscars, Leonardo DiCaprio won "Film Actor of the Year" Award for The Revenant. We certainly have plenty of feelings on The Revenant, Carol, and the Academy Awards (which you can read here),  but right now we're just happy to bask in Carol's present success with the Gay and Lesbian Entertainment Critics Association.
