Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre Opens in Australia

Olivia Newton-John, a breast cancer survivor, was the guest of honor at the media opening of the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre at Melbourne, Australia’s Austin Hospital. The Centre will open to its first patients on July 2, 2012.

As part of Austin Hospital, which has provided cancer care since 1882, the Centre will have extensive cancer services, as well as utilize the research facilities of the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research, which is also on-site. In addition, the Wellness Centre will provide complementary therapies to support patients undergoing medical treatment.

According to the Centre’s website, “Our vision is for a world-class Cancer & Wellness Centre dedicated to providing the very best in medical care and treatment; combined with research programs for new treatments to help stop cancer from destroying the lives of so many people.”

“It is absolutely a dream come true, today is the first day that the public has seen this magnificent hospital and wellness centre... we've been working on it a long time, it's been a 10 year vision and nine years fundraising and we're just delighted," Newton-John said in a statement to Contact Music.
