2015 was a big year for queer women. We got a new season of Orange is the New Black, watched queer musicians go on tour, and saw queer women hit the red carpet for movie premieres.

Women came out, relationships became official, and more than ever before, the lesbian community was thirsty AF. I’d like to thank the millennial generation for making this thirstiness possible, because without you and your forward thinking minds, we’d never been in a place where everywhere we turn, we can look and find a beautiful, badass queer female. So, as a big THANK YOU to you all, let’s review all the women we wanted to ship this year.

15. Tig Notaro

Unless you’re still stuck in 2005 where you aren’t either paying for HBO or don’t have someone’s login yet, you’ve watched the Tig Notaro doc and comedy special that debuted this year and fell in love with her quirky sense of humor and big humble heart. And just her. Because she’s amazing.

14. Samira Wiley

Samira may have won our hearts years ago when we were introduced to Poussey, and then made us all swoon after we found out she stole the heart of OITNB’s previously “hetero” writer, Lauren Morelli. This year was when we began to feel like Samira was becoming a household name.

13. Hannah Hart

Hannah’s My Drunk Kitchen on YouTube has obviously been on our radar for years, but once we found out she was dating newly out YouTuber Ingrid Nilsen, it was kinda hard to forget what a crush we had on Hannah back when we first found out about My Drunk Kitchen

12. Cara Delevinge

The engagement rumors (to musician Annie Clark) quickly sent us all into a ferocious Google search frenzy a few months back. It was so nice to see Cara come into her own and live freely in the world without giving a fuck what the rest of us all thought. Which is totally girlfriend material #amiright?!

11. Carrie Brownstein

Carrie made the entire indie music world happy when she announced that her band Sleater-Kinney would be debuting another album, but when the music video for their first single, “No Cities To Love,” dropped, it featured all the queer women we wanted to ship lip-syncing the song and then the entire lesbian community just about fell into their graves. We love her for her comedic talent, her musical talent and for being an openly bisexual female.

10. Cameron Esposito

Made famous by BuzzFeed's “Ask a Lesbian,” video series, Cameron Esposito, saw a huge rise in famedom this year after the videos went viral. She’s a fan of chatting about OG lesbian topics like queer haircuts, her vest collection and frequent power tool usage, while also knocking down bigots who try and stifle her femism.

9. Halsey

Halsey got on everyone’s radar early this year when her songs started becoming viral hits online, but after she dropped her first studio album Badlands, and started talking candidly about her bisexuality, the entire queer community's ears were ringing. And then she cut her hair and dyed it blue! So basically we’re all swooning over her talent, mind and then lastly, her style.

8. Laura Jane Grace

Easily the most badass trans woman to make waves this year. We’ve all been lusting over Laura Jane Grace. She debuted in a few videos with Miley Cyrus this year for the Happie Hippie Foundation, and although that wasn’t the moment for some of us to fall for Laura, it was for most. She’s fierce, brave, hot as hell, and can play guitar and sing LIKE NOBODY’S BUSINESS. Hey girl, let’s talk chords.

7. Evan Rachel Wood

At least for me, my obsession with Evan Rachel Wood is well past 10 years strong, but this year, she just soared. Coming more into her own as an out bisexual woman, owning her more masculine/androgynous side with her hair choices and affinity for suits, while best-friending Ellen Page while shooting Into the Forest has sent me over the edge. I know I’m not the only one here though…we all wanted to ship her this year.

6. Kate McKinnon

OK, so Kate is the first openly gay female SNL cast member ever. Although that’s dope as hell, it’s not the reason we love her. We love her because she’s talented, hilarious, beautiful, smart, and sooooo good at impressions. But we’re also proud of her for being confident enough to be the first out lesbian on SNL, and we can’t lie, we want to ship her.

5. Ingrid Nilsen

For all the diehard YouTube followers out there, you will never forget the day you watched Ingrid’s coming out video. It was raw, emotional and frankly hard to watch, because so many of us could see ourselves in her. Not only do we all send Ingrid a big, warm welcome to the LGBT, we’re also reminding her that if her and Hannah ever break up (we curse even the THOUGHT of that day), that there’s a line of fans who she should give a chance.

4. Abby Wambach

This year was HUGE for Abby. She (finally) won with the USWNT at the Women’s World Cup and she made the decision to retire from soccer. Although we’ll absolutely never quit Abby Wambach, we will always (no matter if she has a wife or not), want to be her girlfriend.

3. Lena Waithe

So it may be true that we only just learned who Lena Waithe was after Aziz Ansari’s show Master of None dropped on Netflix, but that doesn’t mean we haven’t been stalking her ever since. Although she’s another babe on this list who’s already taken, we can’t deny her killer acting chops, killer style, and killer top knot. Girl, you stole our hearts. Majorly.

2. Ellen Page

Ellen came out last year, and ever since, we’ve been even more thirsty than we were since all after Juno (which was when most of us fell in love with her). With Freeheld coming out, her style changing in front of our eyes, and the public’s introduction to her super rad artist/surfer girlfriend, Samantha Thomas, we’ve wanted to ship. her. up. (even though her and Samantha are perfect and we’re not down with breaking them up because they’re perfect <3).

1. Ruby Rose

RIP to Ruby’s engagement to girlfriend and ex-fiancee Phoebe Dahl, but I guess this makes Ruby that much more ship-able? No words needed as to why we all wanted to ship Ruby, because DUH we did.
