Southeastern Europe’s first lesbian and feminist choir Le Zbor has released a video and song to show solidarity with LGBT citizens of Russia and worldwide just in time for the start of the Winter Olympics in Sochi this week.

“We believe that the violations of human rights in Russia have accrued to concerning proportions. Russia's parliament has unanimously passed a federal law banning gay "propaganda", pushed to enshrine deeply conservative values that has already led to a sharp increase in anti-gay violence,” Le Zbor expresses in a press release.

“Katjusha," the song Le Zbor sings for the video that depicts lesbians carrying the Olympic torch and planting loving kisses on one another, is a Russian tune from 1938, written as Russian soldiers were heading off to fight Nazi occupiers, according to the release.
