Michelle Obama's DNC Speech Will Go Down in History Because of These Inspiring Quotes

The First Lady's speech at last night's Democratic National Convention will forever go down in history as one of the best speeches ever.

Last night was the first night of the Democratic National Convention, and First Lady of the United States Michelle Obama gave a speech that will go down in history as one of the best speeches to have ever been given at the DNC.

Not only did she speak eloquently, not only was her passion authentic and contagious, and not only did she show her true love for this country, but she revealed why she’s #withher, and why we all must stand with Hillary Clinton in order to ensure that Donald Trump does not become America’s 45th president.

Before continuing, I feel as if I must confess something: I am and have been an adamant Bernie Sanders supporter. I am frustrated by the way he was treated unfairly by the DNC (especially in the light of the WikiLeaks email scandal) but come election day, I will not be 'Bernie or Bust.' I will not cut off my nose to spite my face. I will vote with my conscious, and I will vote for Clinton because not voting for her is a vote for Trump.

So here they are. Some of the best quotes from FLOTUS’ speech.

When Michelle discussed the roots of our country and how far we, as a people and nation, have come:

"That is the story of this country, the story that has brought me to this stage tonight, the story of generations of people who felt the lash of bondage, the shame of servitude, the sting of segregation, but who kept on striving and hoping and doing what needed to be done so that today I wake up every morning in a house that was built by slaves."

When she discussed the greatness of America, past, present, and future:

"So, look, so don’t let anyone ever tell you that this country isn’t great, that somehow we need to make it great again. Because this right now is the greatest country on earth!"

When she spoke about how HRC never crumbles under pressure:

"What I admire most about Hillary is that she never buckles under pressure. She never takes the easy way out. And Hillary Clinton has never quit on anything in her life."

When she discussed how HRC is a rolemodel for young women everywhere:

"Leaders like Hillary Clinton who has the guts and the grace to keep coming back and putting those cracks in that highest and hardest glass ceiling until she finally breaks through, lifting all of us along with her… And because of Hillary Clinton, my daughters and all our sons and daughters now take for granted that a woman can be president of the United States."

When she discussed the acts of humanity that came out of the Orlando Massacre:

"Heroes of every color and creed who wear the uniform and risk their lives to keep passing down those blessings of liberty, police officers and the protesters in Dallas who all desperately want to keep our children safe. People who lined up in Orlando to donate blood because it could have been their son, their daughter in that club."

On having integrity and a moral code:

"How we explain that when someone is cruel or acts like a bully, you don’t stoop to their level. No, our motto is, when they go low, we go high."

Thank you Michelle, for your speech. It's exactly what America needed to hear.
