About Bannon: Trump’s early appointment of Stephen Bannon, who does not require Senate confirmation, set the tone for his divisive cabinet picks. Bannon formerly ran Breitbart News, a website that runs incendiary headlines and content including, ‘Birth control makes women unattractive and crazy,’ ‘Gay rights have made us dumber, it’s time to get back in the closet,’ and ‘Bill Kristol: Republican spoiler, renegade Jew.’ The site has published articles linking migrants to the spread of a disease, and has tried to tie Huma Abedin, a top Hillary Clinton aide who is Muslim, to Islamic militants. Breitbart News represents views held by those who call themselves alt-right, and who critics often refer to as neo-Nazis or white nationalists.
What we’ll be resisting: As Chief Strategist, Bannon will be responsible for controlling Trump’s image, redirecting the message, and advising Trump on short and long-term strategies with the goal of reelection in 2020. We’ll be resisting the spread of misinformation, spinning of Trump’s actions in office, and a lot of anti-Semitism, transphobia, homophobia, Islamophobia, misogyny, racism and other forms of marginalization of oppressed groups.
