In a powerful, moving display, over 6,800 Hong Kong residents celebrated queer pride, in their 8th annual Pride Parade last week. The parade and celebration was about more than fun, however. Advocates came together to fight for sexual orientation discrimination laws, which currently do not exist in the country. Progress is slow, but beautiful events like this keep the movement in the spotlight and provide safe spaces for people who may not otherwise have them.
