The French National Assembly approved a marriage equality bill 331-225 on Tuesday.

The French National Assembly approved a marriage equality bill 331-225 today. Since the senate approved the bill earlier this month, the legislation now heads to President Francois Hollande's desk, where he has pledged to sign the bill into law.

In addition to securing marriage rights for gay and lesbian couples, the bill would also give same-sex couples the right to adopt children. Once the law is finalized, France will be the ninth country in Europe and the 14th in the world (along with New Zealand, and Uruguay, which has recently approved bills that are awaiting signature) to provide marriage equality to all of its citizens.

While equality supporters outside the National Assembly toasted Tuesday's vote with glasses of champagne, the radical feminists of Ukraine-based activist FEMEN celebrated the victory in a more visceral fashion.

Keeping with FEMEN's mission statement which declares "our mission is protest, our weapons are bare breasts," the women rallied, shirtless, with slogans pained across their bodies like "Love has no gender," "In Gay We Trust," and "Liberte Pour Tous," or "Freedom for All."

Join the women of FEMEN, and equality activists around the world, as we celebrate France's embrace of marriage equality.
