10 Best 'L Word' Sex Scenes

It’s been several months since the dramatic ending of The L Word and rather than wondering who killed Jenny, instead, let’s remember some of the best sex scenes the show had to offer. What a better way to get us through this dry spell with some of the steamiest scenes on the small screen.

10. Shane & Molly- Season 5

Okay, so perhaps this isn’t one of the hottest L Word sex scenes, but it is one of the most realistic, and for that it makes number 10 on the list. Everyone can relate to the awkwardness of your first sexual experience, all of your insecurities battling it out in your head while you are trying to enjoy yourself. Molly’s innocence and inability to stop talking reminds us all of that moment where you finally act on your desires, and I mean who doesn’t desire Shane? Once you get over all of Molly’s fumbling and incessant talking, you can appreciate a truly adorable love scene.

9. Bette & Candace- Season 1

Even though Bette and Candace didn’t technically have sex in this scene, it is still number 9 on the list for several reasons. For starters, they are in jail and wearing the cutest inmate clothes I’ve ever seen. Second, I am sure none of us forgot that sometimes annoying blonde named Tina, and it seems Bette hasn’t either. She doesn’t allow herself to fully cheat on Tina, not yet anyway, and settles for a super steamy imagined sex scene with the jail cell wall. The scene ends with Bette shaking and writhing against the wall, and left all of us a little hot and bothered. The whole scene is all so wrong but it feels so right.

8. Shane & Paige- Season 4

After “doing the time” finally Shane and Paige “did the crime” in this super steamy car scene, and landed Shane again on the list at number 8. These two were already making house long before they even hooked up, and their sexual tension continued to build and build until finally they managed to have some alone time, without the children.

7. Bette & Tina- Season 2

Bette and Tina have had plenty of memorable sex scenes, but the one that sticks out most in my mind is in Season 2 after Tina’s sonogram, and so it lands at number 7 on the list. The scene is occurs amidst the aftermath of Bette’s infidelity and Tina’s current fling with Helena Peabody. The couple has been making strides rebuilding their friendship until Tina’s hormones get the better of her and lands these two back in the sack. There is so much intensity and emotion in this scene. The love they had for one another remained, but they both had changed, resulting in a powerful sex scene.

6. Shane & Cheri Jaffy- Season 3

Oh Shane, yet again the show’s lothario joins us at number 6 on the list. I am almost positive that when you think of sex scenes on the L Word, this one almost immediately comes to mind; the infamous pool scene. I see no point in going into detail as I am sure most of you are like me and have it engrained in your minds. And while I hate that Shane cheated on Carmen, you have to remember it’s Shane, and when a hot older woman throws herself at Shane, what else can you do but have rough sex in a pool all night?

5. Tasha & Alice- Season 4

Even I thought Tasha and Alice could not be more wrong for each other, but as it turns out they became one of the cutest couples on the L Word and landed at number 5 on the list. Their extremely different views on politics created fun banter but also lead to a hot sex scene. The heated debate about war and Bush, the president of course, is not hot at all on its own, but when it turns into passionate love-making up against the wall, then it becomes one hot sex scene.

4. Marina & Jenny- Season 1

Yet another first time makes the list. Marina and Jenny’s mind-blowing sex scene finds itself at number 4 on the list. The attraction between Marina and Jenny is undeniable- and Jenny finally gives into her desires and cheats on the man she has loved for 4 years. The sex is passionate, intense, confusing and also sad. It opens up Jenny’s entire world, and yet also causes it to come crashing down.

3. Helena & Dylan- Season 3

What would this list be without Helena and Dylan? There whirlwind romance and fantastic sex scenes were destined to be on here as they settle in at number 3. This duo quite possibly had the most painful foreplay and I personally was relieved when they finally sealed the deal in Season 3. Helena took control, as she always does, and guided Dylan through her first sexual experience with a woman. Who doesn’t wish their first time involved a mansion, the beach, and most importantly, Helena?

2. Shane & Carmen- Season 2

Shane ends her domination of this top 10 list at number 2 with her scene in the season finale of season 2 with the gorgeous Carmen de la Pica Morales. We suffered through season 2 watching Jenny and Carmen’s semblance of a relationship, all the while wanting Shane to finally say or do something- and she finally does.

1. Alice & Dana- Season 2

What a better couple to top our list than with my favorite couple: Alice and Dana. The occasional kisses and longing looks between these two finally come to a tipping point when Alice subtly grabs Dana’s butt and the two jump on each other like two teenagers. With Cece Peniston’s song “Finally” accompanying the two as they desperately try and take each other’s clothes off, the scene is playful and absolutely adorable, thus its position at number one on this list, and number one in my heart.
