Queer Canadian-born songstresses (and twin sisters) Tegan and Sara performed a somber, striking rendition of Cyndi Lauper's "Time After Time" for Billboard's Candid Covers series last week. After giving due diligence to one of pop's first fierce ladies, the artists launch into a soulful rendition of, admittedly, one of my favorite songs to date.
"We had to Tegan and Sara it," say the artists. "It can't be like a nice love song, like 'if you ever need me, don't worry, I'm going to be around.' This is more like you're crying underneath our window, like 'whether you want it or not, I am always going to be here for you.'"
And you know what? Given the recent tragic headlines, I don't mind the sentiment that a couple of gorgeous girls like Tegan and Sara might always be around when I'm lost.
