10 Movies That Should Be Remade Starring Jodie Foster as the Villain

Who doesn’t love a good post-apocalyptic flick, especially one that pits the one-percenters against the rest of us (1927’s Metropolis anyone)? With that said, we are so freaking excited that the Jodie Foster/Matt Damon starrer Elysium is out today! Double Oscar winner – and giver of sublime coming out speeches at the Golden Globes -- Jodie plays the mayor of Elysium, a villainous one-percenter who struts around her gilded space island in pristine white suits and Suze Orman-esque hair.

With Neill Blomkamp’s Elysium Jodie is poised to stake her claim as one of the greatest movie villains of all time. With that in mind, here are 10 Movies that Should Be Remade With Jodie Foster as the Villain!

Cruella De Vil - 101 Dalmations, 1996

A former Disney star in classics like Candleshoe and Freaky Friday, Jodie is the perfect choice for a live-action remake of 101 Dalmations. Scratch that, Glenn Close was so flawless as the original live-action Cruella, we propose they remake the movie with Jodie and Glenn as dueling Cruellas rather than chasing after a 101 spotted bitches.

Frank Booth - Blue Velvet, 1986

Dennis Hopper positively terrifies as the volatile sociopath obsessed with Isabella Rossellini’s torch singer in David Lynch’s classic. Only a two-time Oscar winner like Jodie could do subsequent justice to sipping nitrous oxide out of a gas mask while screaming “Mommy.”

Rebecca - Mrs Danvers, 1940

Poor misunderstood Mrs. Danvers. She was just a lady’s maid with lesbian tendencies who was wildly obsessed with her employer’s dead wife – the first Mrs. de Winter. In fact, Mrs. Danvers was so was so taken with the first wife that she could barely stop thumbing the silks in the underwear drawer while simultaneously torturing the second Mrs. de Winter. Jodie is perfect for the remake!

Hannibal Lecter - The Silence of the Lambs, 1991

In 1991 Jodie scored her second Best Actress nomination for her role as the dogged FBI agent Clarice Starling. While Anthony Hopkins’ Dr. Lecter is legendary (landing him the Oscar as well), we still think Jodie could have challenged herself one better and played both roles. Can't you just hear Jodie hissing, "What did Miggs say to you Clarice?"

Lord Voldemort - The Harry Potter series

The ineffable Voldemort is powerful, intelligent, magical and ruthless. While Ralph Fiennes has done and excellent job of embodying the ever-morphing wizard, we think Jodie’s Academy Award clout could take the Harry Potter movies to a new level, -- like a Harry Potter Best Acting Oscar.

Anton Chigurh - No Country for Old Men, 2007

Javier Bardem was freaking terrifying as the cattle-gun-wielding bad guy in the Coen Brothers’ Oscar bait No Country for Old Men based on the Cormac McCarthy novel. The coin-flipping killer ended lives at will, and he did it all with that pristine bowl cut. Since Jodie’s sported her signature bob since the ‘80s, the Anton Chigurh bowl cut is a perfect variation.

Nurse Ratched - One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, 1975

Louise Fletcher won the Academy Award for her role as the drunk-with-power administrative nurse at a mental institution in Milos Forman's film based on Ken Kesey’s novel. Who else but Jodie has the depth to step into her sensible nurse shoes to flagrantly revoke meds, privileges and toiletries from mental patients?

Darth Vader - Star Wars, 1976

Jodie Foster as Luke Skywalker's father. That is all...

Joan Crawford - Mommie Dearest, 1981

To paraphrase Faye Dunaway’s Joan Crawford in the camp classic  --

"Don't f*ck with me, fellas! (I like WOMEN!)"

The Wicked Witch of the West - The Wizard of Oz, 1939

Movie villains really don’t get more iconic than The Wicked Witch of the West in Victor Fleming’s classic. There's no denying that Jodie looks amazing in green but the only stumbling block about this casting is that we're not sure we can picture her chasing Dorothy around Oz over a pair of sparkly ruby wedges.
