If it’s felt like the wait for Heartstopper season 2 has been forever, then good news, Netflix finally has shared a release date for season two of the hit queer series.

When last we saw Nick, Charlie, and the gang, the two had made their relationship official and Nick came out to his mother — and we were all bawling happy tears.

When Heartstopper returns it will follow the duo as they try and navigate their brand-new relationship and the challenges and joys that come with that. “Charlie goes on more of a journey this season. His story’s a bit more mature,” revealed Joe Locke to Tudum.

Tara and Darcy have their own set of struggles to overcome. While Tao and Elle have to decide if they can ever take their friendship to the next level and see if there is potential for romance. Elle is “more confident. She surrounds herself with people that elevate her,” said Yasmin Finney.

As if that weren't all enough they also have to deal with exams, and an upcoming class trip to the romance capital, Paris. Oh, and they have a prom to play. It’s a lot for them to handle, but all part of the journey through the next stages of life, love, and friendship.

“Season 2 is based on Volume 3,” Oseman revealed to Tudum on the set of Heartstopper. “So we had a good foundation. But there’s not enough in the book to take a whole season of TV, so there had to be a lot of creation of new stuff.”

So, that just leaves the question of when the show returns. Netflix shared a clip of the cast filming season 2 and officially announced that Heartstopper returns on August 3 on the streamer.
