Looks Like Pete Buttigieg Can't Take His Horse to the 'Old Town Road'

If a Lil Nas X and Pete Buttigieg collab is something you've been wanting (for whatever reason), you'll be waiting for it for a long, long time.

Chart-topping queer rapper Lil Nas X has done a bajillion and one remixes of his viral horse song "Old Town Road," and he's already worked with just as many artists to create those remixes, but it looks like there's one person we won't be seeing the 20-year-old working with any time soon: Democratic Presidential hopeful Pete Buttigieg.

According to an exclusive story by The Daily Beast, the idea of the two working together in any capacity was recently rejected by the "Panini" rapper after a recent event.

To make a long story short, pop culture, news, and entertainment website BuzzFeed held a variety show this week called "Internet Live" on Thursday night in New York City. Lil Nas X performed at the event where Buttigieg was slated to appear via a video, but when the South Bend, Indiana mayor proposed the idea of performing some of the lyrics to Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road," Lil Nas X turned down the idea, reports The Daily Beast.

Before you go thinking there's some weird drama between the two, it's important to note that Buttigieg is a fan of Lil Nas X and recently took to Twitter to congratulate him on his public coming out. According to one of The Daily Beast's sources, the reason Lil Nas X turned down the idea of Mayor Pete reciting his song lyrics is that "he did not want to be seen as endorsing a particular candidate in the race," which is perfectly understandable this early into the presidential election cycle and with a bunch of other candidates campaigning for the position.

If, for whatever reason, you've been wanting the politician and the rapper to cross paths, it looks like you'll have to keep waiting...
