Actor Holly Robinson Peete, best known for her starring roles in 21 Jump Street alongside Johnny Depp, and Hangin' with Mr. Cooper, has caught the ire of some activists for a tongue-in-cheek reference to her alma mater's all-female lacrosse team on ESPN earlier this week.

With so much information coming at us on the Internet it's tough to keep up with all of the mostly meaningless but guilty pleasure type of info out there – and some of it is meaningful. Either way, here's a smattering of pop culture from around the web! Today's tidbits include Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Molly Shannon, Rachel Dratch, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Maya Rudolph, The Real L Word, Pink, Constance McMillen, Burlesque with Cher and Christina Aguilera, Julie Taymor's Tempest with Helen Mirren, The Talk with Sara Gilbert, Sharon Osborne, Hairspray’s Marisa Jaret Winokour, Julie Chen, Holly Robinson Peete and Leah Remini, and a Flaunt photo shoot with Ana Kendrick.
Shame on you, CBS. The network published a press release announcing a new talk show featuring many female power players, including Sara Gilbert, who played Darlene on Roseanne. The press release features a brief list of each woman's credentials and background information about the women's families. While the profiles of other members in the cast acknowledge husbands, Sara Gilbert's profile simply says she lives with "her family in Los Angeles." It seems odd the press release did not say Gilbert lives with her partner, especially since Gilbert is an out lesbian who is raising children with her partner Allison Adler. The show also features Marissa Jane Winokur, Sharon Osbourne, Holly Peete Robinson and Leah Remini.
The diva hit a snag in her performance at the BET Awards.
The reality TV star veteran is dishing on her quest for love with PRIDE.

We adore CSI’s Sara Sidle (Jorja Fox), Law and Order: SVU’s Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay), and Prime Suspect’s Jane (both Maria Bello and Helen Mirren for the U.S. and U.K. versions respectively). But there are a few female cops of bygone eras (and one new hotshot we had to include) that deserve our props, too.
