The new pope's statements on marriage and LGBTQ+ rights give pause to those hoping for a more inclusive church.
The new pope, formerly Cardinal Robert Prevost originally from Chicago, may not carry the same stances on LGBTQ+ rights as Pope Francis.
"It is on all of us to ensure that every match, every event, and every space under the league's banner remains safe, inclusive, and free from hate – for everyone," the statement reads.
Taking care of yourself is now an act of resilience, but not all hope is lost.
