Milk, the timely and prescient biopic about gay rights activist Harvey Milk, landed eight Academy Award nominations, the Academy announced Thursday. However, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button led the way with 13 nominations, while Revolutionary Road was virtually shut out. Penelope Cruz picked up a nod for playing bisexual.
“We were the little indie film that could,” Pope said. “The fact that we were even part of the conversation – that’s the win.”
