Television Jamaica (TVJ), a major station on the Caribbean island, has declined to carry a paid PSA from the Jamaica Forum for Lesbians, All-sexuals and Gays (J-Flag) that encourages acceptance of LGBT family members and friends. The PSA features former Miss Jamaica World and Miss Jamaica Universe Christine Straw with her gay brother Matthew Straw in a pitch for Jamaicans to show "unconditional love" to LGBT family members and friends.
The video also features and benefits survivors of the Pulse nightclub shootings.
Naya Rivera, who plays Santana, McKinley High’s sassy lesbian Cheerio with the big pipes, has joined The Bully Project in making a PSA. The Bully Project is in conjunction with The Weinstein Company’s lighting rod documentary that follows bullied kids over the course of a year.
It wasn’t long ago that comedian Tracy Morgan had an entirely different message on bullying. In this public service announcement posted by Perez Hilton in November, Morgan asks us "to be kind to one another."
Lucy Lawless narrates a new PSA for California Equality Now about the difference between domestic partnership and marriage. The PSA was directed by Jennifer Medvin and 3-time Emmy nominee Karen Wilkens.
