When ABC announced the remake of science fiction, alien invasion series V, the thought immediately came to mind that this would be yet another great opportunity to feature a serious, lesbian character as a lead on a sci-fi show. Fans of the original Vmini-series and follow-up shows may well remember the heavy lesbian/bisexual subtext surrounding the characters played by Jane Badler and Jenny Sullivan. Will the network show continue to de-gay like Katee Sackhoff's Starbuck and Kristanna Loken's Painkiller Jane?

Gay rights activists are planning a protest against Vallejo, California mayor Osby Davis after he called gays "sinful" in a interview with the New York Times. Davis defeated openly gay candidate Gary Cloutier by just two votes to take the post of mayor in Vallejo in 2007. 

The first season ofProject Runway on Lifetime came to a close last night as the final three designers strutted their stuff on the catwalk at New York Fashion Week. While the winner was almost as predictable as rain in Seattle, some fans aren't sure the right girl took home the top prize.

Employees of the gay newspaper Southern Voice arrived at the publication's office Monday to find the doors locked and a sign posted saying the magazine was no longer in business. Window Media LLC, based in Washington, D.C., is the country's largest gay and lesbian newspaper publisher. The company also owns the Washington Blade, Genre Magazine, South Florida Blade and a handful of other gay publications.

The contestants on Top Chef:Las Vegas this week were given an opportunity to do something most lesbians would sacrifice a body part for - serving Padma Lakshmi breakfast in bed! Even better, Padma was curled up in her Venetian hotel suite boudoir with very delicious guest judge, British chef and TV personality Nigella Lawson.

Last night's episode ofProject Runway brought the regular competition to a close with a final elimination challenge. Now three of the designers are on their way to Bryant Park. Thankfully, it's the three contestants that probably most deserved the honor.

Lambda Legal board member Laura Ricketts made a bit of history this past weekend when she was announced as the first ever openly gay Major League Baseball owner. The Ricketts family purchased the Chicago Cubs earlier this year for a reported $845 million and officially took the
helm last week.

When Project Runway moved to Lifetime for the new season, it seemed like a great opportunity to infuse the show with a fresh jolt of energy. Honestly, is it me, or have the designers this season degraded into a bunch of back-stabbing, whiny five-year-olds? I blame it on the elimination of all the fun gay boys (Christopher doesn't count). At least when they bitched constantly about the other designers, it was actually entertaining!

For a girl who doesn't eat meat, guest judge Natalie Portman sure did enjoy talking about it a lot in this week's episode of Top Chef: Las Vegas. Honestly, dick jokes at dinner? On national television?

Can this possibly be true? Famous lesbian and former talk show diva Rosie O'Donnell claimed in an interview with Howard Stern this week she once almost hooked up with the luscious Angelina Jolie. 

Overall the level of skill on this season of Project Runway has seemed notably higher than in many previous seasons. Until last night, that is. Almost every single designer this week elicited a negative comment from the judges for their design and some outfits were just spectacularly gruesome.
