NikkieTutorials is continuing to set an example for everyone around her by not just being her true self, but being her best self.
After being blackmailed into coming out publicly as trans, the popular YouTuber posted a follow-up video asking her fans to stop trying to determine who her blackmailer was. She noted that as her coming out story has gained so much attention and support, she’s seen a surge of videos featuring people claiming to have figured out the “truth” of who blackmailed her.
“And to be honest, I don’t think that’s your story to tell,” she said. “If anyone’s going to have the right to tell more about these blackmailers, it’s gonna be me.”
“No other person or media outlet should be the one talking about my blackmailer when they only know half the truth. You are destroying people’s lives who aren’t even involved in this, and I ask you to stop this.”
Nikkie goes on to reveal that the police did get involved, and they do know exactly who was blackmailing her.
“When I found out exactly who was behind this all, I was shocked, because this is not a person that any of you know. It is someone that I don’t even personally know,” she shared.
But she won’t be naming any names — at least not right now.
“I have the power to destroy a life. Not only the life of my blackmailer, but also the life of his family, his kids, his friends, his surroundings. And ever since finding out the name, the true name of my blackmailer, that has been going on in my mind. If I out this person, am I going to be doing the same as this person did to me? Do I want that? Do I need that? Do I want to put a human being in the same situation that I was in?”
“I don’t want to lower myself to his level. No. I am creating my own level. I’m better than that.”
While she would have every right to reveal the identity of the person who forced her to come out to the world, Nikkie says that they’ve already been punished, both in that they’ve had to watch her career absolutely explode with support and in that now, they have to live with the knowledge that she could destroy them at any point in time.
“They now know that I know exactly who it is. And I think they’re going to have a little bit of that fear, that one day their name is going to leak to the press,” she said.
“But I think it is my right to determine if I want that name to come out or not.”
Her latest video is below, with the discussion surrounding the blackmail starting at around seven minutes in.
