The chaotic story of Joe Goldberg is coming to an end.

On Friday, March 24, Netflix renewed You for its fifth and final season. Though the series has an ever-changing cast of characters – given all the murders in the story – actor Penn Badgley is set to come back as the lead character.

You was originally developed by Sera Gamble alongside Greg Berlanti, a duo that worked on the first four seasons of the series. However, the fifth season will see a change in showrunners. This time, executive producers Michael Foley and Justin W. Lo will take over for Gamble.

“Goodbye... YOU,” the show’s official Instagram account wrote. “Joe Goldberg will return for the fifth and final season of You.”

A wide range of actors were featured in the first four seasons of You, including Elizabeth Lail (Guinevere), Zach Cherry (Ethan), Shay Mitchell (Peach), Victoria Pedretti (Love Quinn), Jenna Ortega (Ellie), James Scully (Forty), Tati Gabrielle (Sherry), Travis Van Winkle (Cary), Dylan Arnold (Theo), Charlotte Ritchie (Kate), Tilly Keeper (Lady Phoebe), Amy-Leigh Hickman (Nadia), and Lukas Gage (Adam), to name a few.

With Joe being a serial killer, most of those characters were either killed or managed to disappear from his life before things took a murderous turn. You first premiered in 2018 on Lifetime, and then proceeded as a Netflix original series from season two onwards.

We’re already scared of what’s to come on season five of You – but we also can’t wait to see how this wild roller-coaster will come to an end!

You season four is now streaming on Netflix.
