Jenna Ortega might have her next movie already lined up — the long-awaited sequel to Beetlejuice.

According to Variety, the Scream actress is in talks to jump to yet another Tim Burton project, hot off the heels of the success of Wednesday. If she links up with the director again for Beetlejuice 2, she would reportedly be playing the daughter of Winona Ryder’s Lydia Deetz.

A follow-up to the wacky 1988 classic has been tossed around as a possibility for years now, with things finally appearing to pick up steam last year. Although we don’t have many details about what the movie would entail just yet, Burton is expected to return as director, and Michael Keaton would likely return to play the titular character.

The original film also starred Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis as a recently deceased couple who ask for Beetlejuice’s help in getting rid of the family — played by Ryder, Jeffrey Jones, and Catherine O’Hara — that has moved into their home. There is no word yet as to whether any of the other cast members would reprise their roles in a sequel.

This would be the latest in a string of high profile roles for Ortega, whose star power has exploded in the last two years between the Scream movies, Netflix’s Wednesday, and Ti West’s X.

The news also comes right after she unintentionally stirred up some major drama on social media for publicly criticizing the scripts for Wednesday and admitting that she caused trouble on set refusing to say lines and simply changing things without consulting the writers. Fans of the show defended her, assuming she made things better, while entertainment professionals lamented the lack of collaborative respect and cautioned against actors making things more difficult for a production when they don’t have the whole picture regarding the story or studio politics.

Still, Ortega seems like she would slide right into the world of Beetlejuice perfectly, should she ultimately come on board for the film.
