Directed by Gerard Johnstone (Housebound) and with a story by Akela Cooper (Malignant) and James Wan (Fast & Furious, Aquaman), the girls, gays, and theys are all here for the newly-dropped trailer of M3gan.
The cast of M3gan features Allison Williams as Gemma, Violet McGraw as Cady, Brian Jordan Alvarez as Cole, Arlo Green as Ryan, and Jenna Davis as the voice of M3gan the robot. The film was produced by powerhouse horror studio Blumhouse Productions and will be widely distributed in theaters by Universal Pictures, with a very fitting release date of Friday, January 13, 2023.
The synopsis is pretty straightforward: Gemma is a roboticist who works for a toy company using artificial intelligence to create a doll dubbed “Model 3 Generative Android (M3GAN).” Due to her career, Gemma has a hard time raising her orphaned niece Cady, which prompts her to bring home a prototype of M3gan to help out. What could go wrong, huh?
Almost instantly, the live-action robot character of M3gan became a viral sensation on social media – particularly among the LGBTQ+ community. From threatening the existence of similar horror characters like Chucky (Child’s Play) and Annabelle (The Conjuring) to remixing M3gan’s dance sequence, the memes that followed the M3gan trailer are absolutely hilarious.
M3gan premieres Friday, January 13, 2023 in theaters.
