Stop everything and watch the trailer for Moonlight, the new coming-of-age film about black queerness, masculinity, and sexuality. Based on the critically-acclaimed play In Moonlight Black Boys Look Blue, Moonlight revolves around the life of Chiron, a black teen boy learning and growing in 1980s Miami.

The movie will be director Barry Jenkins’ full-length, feature debut, but he’s not the only one making first’s in this film. Janelle Monaé will flaunt her acting chops for the first time on screen, not to mention the upcoming NASA movie she’ll be starring in soon.

From the looks of it Moonlight will provide a refreshing perspective into black, queer masculinity that society often ignores. Here’s to hoping it’s as amazing as it seems!

Watch the full trailer below. Moonlight premieres at the Toronto International Film Festival and hits select theaters October 21st.
