According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, British singer/actor Johnny Flynn is set to play the beloved, bisexual music icon in a biographical, feature-length film—aptly named Stardust—from Salon Pictures.

Most Americans will probably know Flynn from his role as Dylan Witter on the 2014 Netflix series Lovesick.

THR also reports that the biopic (which will be directed by Gabriel Range and also stars Jena Malone and Marc Maron) is set to start production in June and will follow Bowie's journey from first arriving in America during the early 1970s to the creation of his legendary alter ego Ziggy Stardust.

While a David Bowie biopic sounds amazing, the project has already experienced some setbacks.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Stardust does not have any of the rights to use Bowie's music in the film, nor does it have his family's blessing.

"Pretty certain nobody has been granted music rights for ANY biopic...I would know," Duncan Jone, Bowie's son, tweeted when responding to THR's report of Flynn's casting.

We hope things work themselves out soon, because we sure as hell would love to see David Bowie's story on the big screen!
