Netflix is getting ready to serve up a Hitchcockian take on teen dramedies, in the form of their upcoming film, Do Revenge.

The movie stars Riverdale’s Camila Mendes as her high school’s former it girl, Drea, disgraced after her boyfriend (Austin Abrams) leaked their sex tape to the world. She’s joined by Stranger Things’ Maya Hawke, who plays transfer student Eleanor, plagued by a nasty rumor that she had tried to force herself on a girl at her previous school.

After what is so queerly described as a “clandestine meet-cute,” the two teens decide to take revenge on the people who wronged them, Stranger on a Train-style, with each targeting the other’s bully.

It’s a wickedly dark premise and the stills released to promote the film are already promising a comedic contrast that lends itself perfectly to this sort of teen caper.

Adding to its promise of deliciously cruel fun is the creative team behind the story. Jennifer Kaytin Robinson and Celeste Ballard wrote the movie, with the former directing. Robinson is perhaps best known for the underrated MTV gem Sweet/Vicious (on which Ballard was also a writer), and most recently penned the script for Thor: Love and Thunder.

“We want you to have a great f*cking time,” Robinson told Elle about the film. “That’s what this is. That’s what it should be.”

Also making appearances in the film are Sophie Turner, Alisha Boe, Eliza Bennett, Rish Shah, Talia Ryder, and Paris Berelc.
Do Revenge hits Netflix on September 16.
