The LGBTQ community and its supporters in Texas were distraught when a rainbow mural was vandalized over the weekend.
The BeVisible Pride Wall was painted in downtown Houston in April as part of a nationwide Pride Portraits project. The aim was to give visitors a backdrop to take photos and share to social media and, well, be visible.
But an anti-gay vandal wanted to squash that visibility, painting “Stop your gay agenda” with a big “X” over the mural. It’s okay, though, because they also added “PLEASE!” next to the request.
Unfortunately, it looks like the vandal is going to get their wish.
The Houston Chronicle reports that the wall will be repainted white on Wednesday, due to the owner of the building not wanting to deal with any potential future vandalism.
A post to the Facebook page of the restaurant housed in the building suggest the owners of the restaurant, however, are disappointed in that decision and wish to continue supporting the LGBTQ community.
The vandal has not been identified, though Jenni's Noodle House is asking for help with leads.
