Heated Rivalry just swept a Canadian awards show, but if you think that a prestigious honor would stop star Hudson Williams from making the type of horny comments he’s become known for, you’d be wrong.
The hugely popular gay hockey romance series wasn’t eligible for an Emmy this year because it was a Canadian production, but it dominated at the Canadian Screen Awards on Sunday.
Heated Rivalry had a record-breaking night, taking home 16 awards and winning every category it was nominated in. The show won Best Drama Series, Directing, Writing, Supporting Performance for Rose Landry actress Sophie Nélisse, and the fan-voted Cogeco Fund Audience Choice award, Deadline reports.
Williams also picked up his first major award win with the Best Lead Performer award, but don’t let the accolade fool you; his acceptance speech proves that he’s still the same person who also said his character was “jizzing and splizzing all over myself” in an infamous Buzzfeed video where he was reading filthy fan tweets.
In his acceptance speech, not only did he share credit with costar Connor Storrie, who was ineligible as an American, but Williams also referenced the “yearning bottom eyes” comments from social media that his character has inspired since the show premiered back in November.
“If I could cut this award down the middle I would because if these gay, yearning, little bottom eyes didn’t have a big sexy Russian to feast upon, my performance wouldn’t be as good. To the honorary Canadian Connor Storrie, I share this award with you,” the 25-year-old actor said.
Williams also thanked his parents for their support, and his long-time partner Katelyn Rose Larson for keeping him stable, all of whom were in the audience.
Season 2 of Heated Rivalry is scheduled to being filming in August 2026, with the premiere slated for sometime in April 2027.
