Drag Race Superfan Anne Hathaway Freaks Out Over Meeting RuPaul
"You are the winner of this week's challenge," said Ru. "Shantay, you stay."
Anne Hathaway had a true fangirl breakdown moment after meeting RuPaul last night on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.
The Hustle star shared with Colbert her love of RuPaul's Drag Race and of course, the host himself. Colbert asked Hathaway for a message he could pass along to RuPaul as he'd be on the talk show the following night.
"I couldn’t talk — just say I love you," Hathaway said.
"Well, why don't you say it to him right now," Colbert turns and RuPaul runs from backstage to hug Hathaway.
She's promptly overwhelmed with tears as RuPaul sits down next to her. "Well that was unexpected," says Ru. "You are the winner of this week's challenge. Shantay you stay."
Hathaway continues to cry as she talks about one of her favorite queens on the show, Monét X Change.
"Monét X Change’s entire journey. Just how amazing she was in season 10. I really take this very seriously," she says tearfully to Ru. "And then the growth between season 10 and season 11—the way she stepped her pussy up...I feel like since I started being an actress I’ve learned how to step my pussy up. And now I’m (bleeped out) and I’m just so thrilled for her and me and you and you.”
