Obi-Wan Kenobi isn't the only TV show Ewan McGregor is set to slay in the near future! The acting legend is taking on the titular role of iconic queer fashion designer Roy Halston Frowick in Netflix's upcoming series Halston!
Making the announcement today (what would have been the fashion legend's 89th birthday), the streaming giant teased the first-look poster, official stills, and a May 14 global release date for the miniseries, which is being helmed and executive produced by Emmy-winner Ryan Murphy.
According to a release, Halston "follows the legendary fashion designer as he leverages his single, invented name into a worldwide fashion empire that’s synonymous with luxury, sex, status, and fame, literally defining the era he lives in, 1970’s and ‘80’s New York — until a hostile takeover forces him to battle for control of his most precious asset...the name Halston itself."
The series, which is already looking like all of our '70s and '80s fantasies come true, stars McGregor as Halston, alongside a slew of talent that includes Krysta Rodriguez (playing Liza Minnelli), Rebecca Dayan, David Mahoney, Gian Franco Rodriguez, David Pittu, Sullivan Jones, Rory Culkin, Kelly Bishop, and Vera Farmiga.
Considering Halston's impact on the fashion world, we can't wait to see how Ewan slays the role!
