Anxiety hurts, but there are ways to deal with it.
As trans folks and allies we do need to recognize that, unfortunately, many trans people live with anxiety, depression, substance abuse, and/or eating disorders. Sometimes these issues are a direct result of the way trans folks are treated in their day-to-day life for being trans. Transgender people may find themselves living in persistent distress of verbal or physical harassment after being assaulted. While any mind can deal with this kind of weight for short periods, over time this continuous threat is likely to grow into a form of social anxiety. Aside from that reality sometimes anxiety and depression are the most immediate method of dealing with general body dysphoria that many trans people experience. Here’s a few methods to help folks who are trans and have anxiety.
