People from across the globe are taking to Instagram to protest the silencing of LGBT people and activists in Russia.
As part of a social media campaign started by SSEX BBOX, a Brazilian activist group that describes itself as a "social justice project that seeks to support diverse perspectives about sexuality and gender," LGBT Insta users are being encouraged to share pictures of themselves kissing their partners. The Instagrammers are then using the hashtag #Kiss4LGBTQRights to index their pictures, and tagging themselves at the Moscow Kremlin, the heart of Russia's political capital.
The results of #Kiss4LGBTQRights are a beautiful and inclusive act of resistance against a notoriously homophobic government, and a way to raise awareness to the struggles of the Russian LGBT community.
