Nyle DiMarco Exposes Deaf Discrimination on 'What Would You Do?'

The newest season of ABC's hidden camera show What Would You Do? premiered this weekend, and with the help of sexually fluid model, activist,  and America's Next Top Model/Dancing with the Stars winner Nyle DiMarco, host John Quiñones helped show America exactly the kind of discrimination and judgement many deaf people face on a daily basis.

In the episode, a deaf actor named J.W. is trying to order a meal at a diner when a mean-spirited waiter (played by another actor named Tyler) is being extremely rude and harassing him. Later on in the episode, Nyle takes J.W.'s place as a deaf customer trying to order food from the asshole waiter. Fortunately, a lot of people stood up for both Nyle and JW when the waiter was being awful, proving that there is still some goodness out there in the world.

Although the entire scenario was staged, the reactions from bystanders were genuine, and discrimination against people with disabilities is still a very real problem. This latest episode of What Would You Do? definitely helped expose the harsh reality that too many folks have to deal with.
