Leslie Jordan took over hosting duties for Ellen DeGeneres on her talk show Tuesday and a sneak peek gave us some fun insight into his relationship with The Neighborhood and New Girl star Max Greenfield.

The two first met while filming an episode of the Will & Grace revival in 2017, where Jordan reprised his fan favorite role as Beverley Leslie, Karen’s long-time nemesis. Greenfield was guest starring in the episode as a “hot, rich, power gay” -- and apparently it translated a little too well.

“What was your thought when we first met?” Greenfield asked Jordan during the interview.

“Ooh, I thought you might be gay,” Jordan replied. “But then again, that’s my thought whenever I meet anybody.”

But Greenfield readily admitted that Jordan is not the first person to think he might be gay.

“Right before Thanksgiving…a friend texted me, and he says, ‘They’re posting these all over West Hollywood,’” he recalled, pointing to a picture of a flyer featuring him, shirtless, with the words “BIG GAY PARTY” across the top to advertise a Thanksgiving bash — or, more specifically, “Bangsgiving.”

“Bangsgiving” is actually the name of an old episode of New Girl, Greenfield went on to explain. The premise was that everyone had to bring somebody to dinner to try to match them up with another one of their friends… something that probably isn’t exactly what the WeHo gays had in mind with their version of Bangsgiving.

“Little did I know that one day [the episode title] would result in me promoting a big gay party in West Hollywood, bringing everyone together for a festive, turkey…something,” he said.

But Jordan summed it up best when he looked at the flyer and voiced what was on everyone’s mind: “I want to go to that party."
