Kesha is updating fans on her sexuality in honor of Pride month!

The “Cannibal” singer made a light-hearted post on Instagram this week wishing her following a happy Pride and reminding them that not only is she thrilled to support the LGBTQ+ community, but she’s also a part of it herself.

Kesha wrote in the post:

“In case I haven’t been straight forward enough (LOL) I just wanted to take a sec to tell everyone that you are not only enough, just as you are, but the world is so fucking lucky to have you. I’m not gay. I’m not straight. I don’t know what I am. I love people. I love people because we are all our own little consciousness journeys, dancing around the sun.”

Kesha has never been shy when it comes to talking about her sexuality. She has previously identified as bisexual and even opened up about how she never really had an official coming-out moment.

“I think I had a conversation with a magazine in the US, and they just asked me, ‘Oh, are you bisexual?’ and I was like, ‘Obviously!’” she told Attitude back in 2019.

As most queer people know, coming out isn’t something you get to do just once and have it be done. Bisexual people — or anyone who falls into the “not gay”-“not straight” spectrum like Kesha — know this very well, especially when they are romantically attached to people of different genders.

In fact, Kesha has pointed out that she’s dated women in the past and was never one to conceal that fact. Alas, the media failed to take notice of it many times.

Overall, that’s one of the great things about Pride month — an excuse for everyone under the LGBTQ+ umbrella to celebrate their identities and, if necessary, remind people that straight isn’t always the default no matter what it looks like.

“I refuse to be anything, really, except for open to it all,” Kesha added. “I know it can be confusing sometimes, but you are so seen and loved. Love u animals, happy pride.”
