Plus 10 of the most hilarious Twitter comments about the steamy photo.

If your recent search history is full of questions like, “Is Andrew Garfield gay?” and “Is Andrew Garfield bisexual?” then you aren’t alone because those search terms started trending on Google shortly after a photo of the Amazing Spider-Man star went viral.

The photo in question was snapped while Garfield was enjoying a vacay with friends on a yacht in Positano, Italy. In it, the 39-year-old actor can be seen shirtless as he leans forward while a friend seems to be giving him a massage or applying sunscreen on his back.

It quickly went viral and spurred on the trending Google search terms. Fans then went wild on Twitter posting comments and memes referencing Garfield’s sexuality because the angle the photo was taken at made some thirsty commenters joke that he was having sex with the man standing behind him.

Fans posted comments like, "He can top me" and "Whats with all the Spidermen getting backshots these days??"

But despite the fervor, Garfield has been clear in the past that he is not gay. In an interview with Out while he was promoting his role as a gay man suffering from AIDS in Angels in America on Broadway back in 2018, the actor admitted to having an "openness," but ultimately said he's straight.

“My stance toward life, though, is that I always try to surrender to the mystery of not being in charge. I have an openness to any impulses that may arise within me at any time. If I were to identify, I would identify as heterosexual,” Garfield said.

However, none of that stopped people on social media from posting funny comments to the photo. We've culled through the jokes and memes on Twitter to find the best ones, so keep scrolling to see the hilarity.
