"I've always tried to fight for equality and love for everyone."

Full House star Jodie Sweetin made her stance on LGBTQ+ rights clear at The Wrap's Power Women Summit on Wednesday.

Sweetin, who plays Stephanie Tanner in the original ABC comedy series and the Netflix revival Fuller House, celebrated President Joe Biden signing the Respect for Marriage Act into law. "I have always been an outspoken ally for LGBTQ communities, for Black Lives Matter," Sweetin told ET. "I've always tried to fight for equality and love for everyone."

She shared that she was "so thrilled when the Respect for Marriage Act passed. I know that was something that a lot of people were concerned about. I really was advocating for that, and it makes me so happy."

This comes after the past few months of drama surrounding her Full House costar Candace Cameron Bure, who's a founding part of a new Christian-centric channel launch that would focus on sharing stories of "traditional marriage." She was promptly called out by LGBTQ+ celebrities like Jonathan Bennett and Jojo Siwa, and Bure released a statement. "I am a devoted Christian. Which means that I believe that every human being bears the image of God. Because of that, I am called to love all people, and I do," she continued. "My heart yearns to build bridges and bring people one step closer to God, to love others well, and to simply be a reflection of God's huge love for all of us."

Following all that controversy, Sweetin emphasized why she takes her platform as an ally seriously. "I feel like if you have a voice, and you have a platform, then it is incumbent on you to be loud and use it, whether people like it all the time or not. I love what I do because I know that not everyone has the time and is willing to be able to get up and do this. So I take it as a huge responsibility."
