Viewers are thirsty for these Bros.

After a huge wait, Billy Eichner’s gay rom-com Bros is finally here!

Directed by Nicholas Stoller, produced by Judd Apatow, and released by Universal Pictures, Bros features an all-LGBTQ+ cast of actors and feels like a landmark moment for queer representation on the big screen. With the exception of a few quick celebrity cameos, all of the characters seen in the film are played by LGBTQ+ talent – yes, even the straight characters!

Though the box office results for Bros have been disappointing, critics and audiences have been raving about the movie. For instance, on Rotten Tomatoes, the movie currently has a 91% Tomatometer score and a 92% audience score, which is quite impressive. All things considered, this feels like a huge moment for mainstream LGBTQ+ content that isn’t centered around suffering, pain, loss, and/or death.

As a romantic comedy, a large focus is placed on the main character, Bobby Lieber (played by Eichner), and his love interest, Aaron Shepherd (played by Luke Macfarlane). Another standout character that audiences are feeling thirsty for is Josh Evans (played by Ryan Faucett), who is Aaron’s old friend and former hockey teammate. Last but certainly not least, Guillermo Díaz plays Edgar in Bros and gives viewers all of the “daddy” energy they might want or need.
