Troye Sivan is showing his dark side with a goth twink-inspired photoshoot for Interview magazine that has gay Twitter absolutely quaking.

Sivan sat down with actor Rachel Sennott to talk about their upcoming HBO series, The Idol, which focuses on the seedy side of fame in L.A. The show, which focuses on the music industry, stars Lily-Rose Depp as an up-and-coming pop star and Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye as a cult leader. Beyond that, details are pretty scarce, except, of course, for its incredible cast, which also includes Hari Nef, Dan Levy, Jennie Kim, and many more. The series was co-created by Tesfaye and Euphoria’s Sam Levinson, with a vibe is sexy and a little bit spooky — and Sivan’s photoshoot took inspiration from that.

In the photos, the singer is decked out in black with spiky dark hair and KISS-inspired makeup. It’s dark, a little creepy, but also extremely hot. Just ask gay Twitter.

If you think speedos and a leather vest are revealing, his conversation with Sennott is just as open. They discussed his confidence on stage: “I’ve been singing for such a long time, I actually feel quite safe onstage. I feel confident that if let’s say, god forbid, I was to trip onstage or forget my lyrics, I could talk my way out of it. And my audience, the people who come to the shows, are so nice and I feel like they’re my friends. That’s a very safe space.”

And the time he got food poisoning from “homophobic chicken”: “I had Chick-fil-A — so first of all, it’s karma, right? Because I was eating homophobic chicken — but it was spicy homophobic chicken before this show... I remember feeling extraordinarily sick. It was that sweaty, clammy feeling, except there’s all these people staring back at me. Thank god at that point, the lyrics were second nature to me because I was singing about whatever I was singing about, but my mind was a million miles away thinking, “I need to get off this stage within the next 30 seconds.”

The Idol is set to premiere on HBO in 2023. Watch the teaser trailer below.
