You may not know the story of Saúl Armendáriz, but you will.

Today Prime Video dropped the trailer for their highly anticipated biopic starring Gael García Bernal and Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio (aka Bad Bunny) and it's the kind of inspiring tale of queer triumph we crave.

Set in the 1980s, the film tells the story of Saúl Armendáriz (Bernal), a gay amateur wrestler from El Paso, who rises to international stardom after he creates the ''exotico'' character Cassandro aka the “Liberace of Lucha Libre.” The problem is that traditionally the wrestling world at that time never let the exotico win, but Saúl was determined to do so. In doing so he gains the fame he was seeking but he doesn't only upend his own life but changes the macho wrestling world as well. The film is based on a true story and is directed by Academy Award winner Roger Ross Williams.

Starring alongside Bernal and Ocasio are Roberta Colindrez, Perla de la Rosa, Joaquín Cosío, and Raúl Castillo with a special appearance from El Hijo del Santo.

‘Cassandro’ arrives in select theaters on September 15 and then streams globally on Prime Video on September 22. Watch the trailer below.
