Diehard Potterheads, prepare to have your day completely ruined. 
Alan Rickman, the beloved English actor who brought Professor Severus Snape to life in the Harry Potter film franchise, passed away today at the age of 69 after losing his battle with cancer.
While it is extremely, extremely sad news, Rickman leaves behind a longstanding legacy as one of the industry's best actors, having starred in other hit films like Die Hard and Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.
As expected, Twitter timeleines everywhere were completely filled with touching tributes to the late actor, and some of them even came from his colleagues like Harry Potter author JK Rowling and his Love Actually co-star Emma Thompson.

Daniel Radcliffe is reaffirming his support of the entire LGBTQ+ community — and specifically, trans people — in the wake of J.K. Rowling's public comments insinuating she would never forgive the Harry Potter stars for supporting trans youth.
Radcliffe was interviewed by The Atlantic earlier this year, although the piece was only released this Tuesday. It was inevitable that the once beloved children author's ongoing determination to rail against trans rights and equality on social media would come up, especially as Radcliffe has pointedly declared his support for trans people in the past.

(CNN) — Actor Michael Gambon, best known for playing Albus Dumbledore in most of the “Harry Potter” movies, has died at 82 following a “bout of pneumonia,” a statement issued on behalf of his family said on Thursday, PA Media news agency reported.
